18th MAY 2012, 5 – 8 PM

MA Fine Art at Camberwell College of Arts is proud to announce its forthcoming exhibition, A MACHINE FOR LIVING IN hosted by Hannah Barry Gallery, Peckham.

The exhibition, featuring work by 34 students from the MA Fine Art programme, seeks to reconfigure the architecture of a reading of a work, creating shifts in emphasis between biographical and referential facets of the artist’s practices and the artwork itself. The title A Machine for Living In borrows Le Corbusier’s idea of a house as such a machine, but suggests instead an artwork can become a vessel in which an idea can be sustained, transported and transmitted.

This investigation will include a group exhibition, a collaborative film and a publication, and will be open for one night only. The project is curated by Dave Charlesworth.
