Orchestra of the Age of Enlightment: Brahms Piano Concerto No 1
When: Monday 18th March 7pm
Where: Royal Festival Hall
Info: Both embody radical ideas of the 19th century, when revolution was in the air and artists joined political movements to overturn the old order.
The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment performs these blockbuster piano concertos over two nights with the acclaimed pianist Sir András Schiff.
To complement the piano concertos, he also conducts music by Brahms’ mentor and inspiration, Robert Schumman.
These pieces explore the complex interplay between political turmoil and personal anguish in the composer’s life.
